Personally, I see a huge difference between the Berlin Wall, which was
designed to restrict *all* travel, and the need for passports, which
is designed to enforce *legal* travel.
The need for a passport isn't restrictive, unless you have a problem
that precludes the issuance of a passport.
Our southern border with Mexico is so free that *anyone* can (and
does) pass over it.
